i'll have the milquetoast chickenshit on white bread

The Associated Press dribbles out a weak stream of lukewarm urine:
WASHINGTON – As President-elect Barack Obama assures intelligence officials that his complaints are with the Bush administration, not them, there are growing hints from Democratic Senate allies that spy agency veterans will not be prosecuted for past harsh interrogation and detainee policies.
Goodness fuck, why would anyone have this discussion? Are there laws against "detainee policies" and vague forms of harshness? Why would you promise not to prosecute people for [cough cough mumble] mild naughtiness, [cough]?

When David Addington smokes off a fistful of crack and goes on a three-state child-killing spree, the AP will report that police want to capture him for "conduct some describe as potentially inappropriate, relating to certain issues involving interpersonal relations."

And to think that the Soviets actually bothered to institute direct state control of the news.

"Yeah, copy desk? I've got a line on an incident in which a government contractor delivered electric shocks to a detainee's genitals -- do we have five column-inches for a story on the alleged potential misappropriation of off-meter electric utility resources?"

They got Capone on tax evasion....

Unfortunately, the election didn't include a spine transplant for Congress, so they're still floppy and lean to the right.

Oh wow ... you guys have a long four years ahead! With hardly trying, you'll be able to make posts like this weekly after Jan 20th.

The media template has changed! Didn't you guys get the memo? With Obama in office, the government and administration CAN DO NO WRONG. The role of "media watchdog" has been fully abrogated to the right wing blogesphere, effective immediately, and passes will be given for any unwarranted criticism prior to Jan 20th, ONLY.

All government employees and elected officials are pardoned, except for those Republicans Congress can manage to indict. The bureaucrats were simply "following orders."

You gotta give the media a break here. My goodness, after 8 straight years of blaming George Bush for everything from natural disasters to an improperly placed dessert spoon at a formal dinner in Slag, West Virginia, the media needs some slack time; 4 years at a minimum.

Relax ... get with the program ... give it a rest already!

No, that's Republicans. For Obama, they're going back to Clinton Rules, which means that if he governs like a Democrat he'll be pilloried and impeached, not necessarily in that order.

Wait a minute ... didn't the press love Clinton? I know the dirty bastards, aka The Great Right Wing Conspiracy, didn't love him (I'm suspicious that they loved the sin, though).

But ... Cool! Thanks for the input ... it will be an interesting few years.

I was inspired to write a piece on this, when I'm finished I'll send it your way, if you don't mind. If you do mind, I'll still send it.

Delete buttons are so more civilized than rejection slips ...
