shameful
Spot the part of this story that makes absolutely no fucking sense at all, and would never be tolerated in a country that had its fucking priorities straight.I'm writing another letter for my representatives in Congress to completely ignore. And could someone in the D.C. area maybe chuck a rock at the White House for me?

Is it the part that says, "he was called up from the reserves and sent to war"??
And how about that Libral Media Bias in that piece??? You know what they say, "If it bleeds, it leads."
Seriously, though, I wish we could redirect the Vice President's dessert budget to go toward this man's medical care. I'm sure that should cover it adequately.
For me, it was the part about his family having to drain their savings accounts to pay for his care. I mean, WTF?
I'm in agreement with chris bray on this one - there should be no circumstance when a family has to completely drain its resources and assume full time care of a wounded soldier. The funds and services should be provided by a nation grateful to those who serve for their willingness to sacrifice themselves.
That goes beyond any potential issues of media bias, in my book.
Evidently, irony is not my forte.
Of course a family should not have to drain its resources to care for a son that was wounded while fighting in a war that is supposedly protecting America's freedoms and National Security.
The fact that Bush/Cheney have done nothing to ensure that tragic cases such as this man and his family's don't occur indicates just how much they're the one who don't support our troops.
Furthermore, that Bush/Cheney have the nerve to pretend that throwing 20,000 more troops at Iraq (the so-called "Surge") will do anything at all to solve the problem rather than just providing more IED-fodder for the insurgency highlights just how unimportant they really feel that this conflict is. In other words, their actions belie their public statements to the effect that Iraq is the front line in the battle for our very civilization, a.k.a. the global War on Terror.
But, I ask you all: Is this any surprise? Given what we've already seen for the past 6.5 years, is it really a surprise that this Administration cares more about whether Scooter Libby can squirm his way out of a jail sentence or whether Cheney's office should have to report their classified documents than they do about providing health care for the men and women whom they sent to die in the Middle East??
Dylan,
Your irony is working as advertised -- I was in a humorless state of mind. And no, it's not a surprise. It all fits together.
oops.
Although I see irony now, I totally missed it earlier. It's been one of those weeks when I'm cranky about just about everything. Maybe next week's company shutdown will restore my mood.
