hiatus

Highly unlikely that I'll be posting again before December. No reason, especially, other than the cumulative mental effect of a year of what amounts to a very loud prison. Pretty much hate the Kuwaiti desert. (Really hate the sandstorms.) Pretty much over the bunk beds and the long absence of privacy. Pretty much hate the off-duty culture of the army, which mostly revolves around ubiquitous television and the profoundly loathesome noise of the profoundly loathesome X-Box, which let's all just go ahead and agree to pitch into the fucking ocean, yeah? Looking forward to some peace and quiet, which has been in very short supply.

Sorry to hear that. I'll just think of it as you going through a long illness... but with more yelling. Here's hoping you get "well" soon.

Maybe you can start a book club - begin with something by Tom Clancy, move on to _Rumor of War_ by Caputo and by December you can have them reading Neil Sheehan's _A Bright Shining Lie_.

Okay... I am kinda joking. But I'm having my Am. survey students read Caputo this year, so if did organize a book club maybe we could do a joint online discussion of it.

You joke, but my copies of Cobra II, The Assassin's Gate, and -- yes -- The Federalist Papers are all out on loan within headquarters company. True story!

you're off to Great Places!
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting.
So...get on your way!
