Oh to be back in the day. Back in '92 when I was a wide-eyed young grad student (round one) at NYU, I attended a Jerry Brown rally in Greenwich Village.Brown was delayed, but Joey Ramone and Ray Manzerek were up on the platform to entertain the crowd. Joey spotted Carly Simon in the throng and invited her up to sing (amazing, because I hear she has performance anxiety). Brown arrived just as Manzerek, Ramone, and Simon were finishing an improptu rendition of "Anticipation."I recall that Brown was forceful, intelligent, compelling, and dead-on right about a lot of issues. And I daresay no primary candidate has ever had a better intro.

A blog written by increasingly few graduate students in the UCLA history program.
