academic monoculture dragged once again into the light
The University of Colorado has found that it has cause to formally investigate charges of plagiarism and research misconduct leveled against Ward Churchill. Churchill stands accused of these serious offenses by at least three academic scholars:Professor John LaVelle of the University of New Mexico
Professor Thomas Brown of Lamar University
Professor Fay G. Cohen of Dalhousie University
Now that a university is preparing to take action against a professor, acting on a list of allegations made by other professors... Look for the usual suspects to use these formal, interacademy allegations, and the serious response to those allegations, as further evidence for the existence of an academic monoculture.
If a bunch of professors are trying to get another professor fired as a liar and a lousy researcher, well -- that just proves that all these people think alike, doesn't it? I mean, they all totally stand up for each other, right?
And to think: Just last week, one-third of the faculty at one of Harvard's nine schools expressed a lack of confidence in the leadership of their president. The evidence for a monoculture just keeps piling up, doesn't it?
