Origin of species

At the moment, after spending 4 hours preparing a class on Darwinian evolution, I am disparaged to learn the truth about it.

The good news is, I might go to heaven now. And now I know that gluons are silly. I should have deduced this fact a long time ago simply from their name. Quarks and gluons.

Just don't forget to be really, really stupid when making arguments supporting the theory of evolution. If you don't say really dumb things and accept any outlandish logical fallacy creationists choose to spout unquestioningly, they'll be lost. When they say that there is no difference between belief in something that is supported only by faith and is contradicted by thousands of direct observations and belief in something you can't directly observe but which is supported by thousands of facts which you have directly observe, be sure to either agree with them or, better yet, stand there like a stunned ox. When they mention an isolated error in carbon-14 or some other dating method, accept that as proof that it doesn't work at all rather than as a simple mistake by one researcher. Ignore everything you know that might be inconvenient to their arguments as well. Remember, stick to their script. Oh yes, be sure to act like a jerk so they don't have to make the ad hominem arguments themselves. And be sure to pre-brief the rest of the class so they remember to faun over the creationist after the argument and agree that, since you were a moron and couldn't demonstrate that he's wrong, anything else he says, even about unrelated matters, must be accepted without question.

Your insights on how to run my sections are astounding. I think, actually, that we can cut class short. I will photocopy this publication, and we will -- together -- act it out. It's our little own morality play.

Wow, what an amazingly unintentional condemnation of the religious right.
